All About Me!

My name is Bobby Butterworth and I am currently an undergraduate student at West Virginia University, where I am pursuing a dual degree in the fields of political science and fashion design and merchandising. I grew up in the small town of Elkview, about twenty-five minutes Northeast of West Virginia’s capital city of Charleston. My hometown roots have taught me to value attention to detail, hard work, and unique perspectives. I like to design in ways that forces viewers to ask questions, or maybe see something from a perspective they haven’t been attentive to yet. As long as I can remember, I have been extremely passionate about anything that involves imagination, and I have always loved getting my hands on projects that can satisfy my need to create.  After testing many mediums such as embroidery, painting, and sculpture, I discovered that sewing, specifically garment design, is the one that fits my skills best. I pride myself on being able to use my problem-solving skills in combination with my strong creative talents to envision and construct garments that are original and stunning. In the future, I plan to use my love for fashion, alongside my passion for social justice, to create statement garments that hold a deeper meaning and can be made visible through flawless construction and carefully calculated details.
